4/8/08: Just a quick update here -- mixing starts in 9 days! The Tosca Strings are coming in for a finishing touch, but everything else is ready to go. Brian plays one little show this month at Artz Rib House on the 14th. Check back in soon for more news on the record and a fully loaded website. 12/5/07: The recording continues - Brian is currently working on his vocals, and Chip Dolan has started laying down some really nice organ tracks. They'll have a little break over the holidays, but will be back to put on the finishing touches as we start off the New Year. Brian plays his regular duo shows with Tim at The Hideout this month, and he's also playing in a fun Christmas show at Flipnotics on the 14 th. Abi Tapia is hosting the Holiday Hoe-Down, which will also include performances by Betty Soo, The Ginn Sisters, Graham Weber, and more. You can also catch Brian playing some bass in the classic country band Run Of The Mill at the Mean-Eyed Cat on Wednesday 12/19 from 7-9! Happy Holidays! 10/4/07: The guitar tracks are being wrapped up this week, and then Chip Dolan starts laying down some piano and organ. Chip is a songwriter himself, though he's also well known for the playing he's done with the likes of Kelly Willis, Bruce Robison, Tish Hinojosa, Slaid Cleaves, etc. His list of credits is long and there's a good reason for that. (check it out) We're very happy to have him. Also, see the SHOWS page for a couple of new things this month-- Brian plays Flipnotics for the first time with Abi Tapia & Jenny Reynolds. Should be fun! 9/12/07: Wow-- September, already. Well, the record is taking longer than we had originally aimed for, but things are still moving steadily. Brian and Tim Ashlock have been recording lots of guitar stuff lately, and will continue to for another week or two. And more players are being lined up now for the next few instruments. Slow but steady is the motto these days, and things are really starting to come together. Check back in for more updates and perhaps a couple of rough mixes to check out. 6/26/07: The bass tracks are coming along, they're having a great time with Tom Pearson. Brian's been playing some bass gigs with Abi Tapia as of late-- check her out. 5/19/07: Well, the drum tracks are down for the new record-- it's on the way and so far it's going fantastically! Many thanks to Jon Greene & Aaron Treptow... 5/1/07: Brian will be playing at the Pride Texas Festival this year! It's June 9th at Waterloo park and he'll go on at 3-- be sure to come out for this fantastic event! 4/1/07: in addition to Brian's regular Thursday night gig at The Hideout this week, he'll be joining many local musicians in wishing Mr. Southpaw Jones a very happy 30th birthday at Ruta Maya at 9pm on Friday the 6th.
